Our Impact

The Money Works for You program has proven successful in helping low-income people save and obtain their dream of purchasing a home, attending college, or starting their own business.

Overview

GECAC's Money Works for You program is designed to help low-income individuals and families save money through a matched savings program. Participants receive a 1:1 match on their savings. Those saving $500 will be matched with $500 for a total of $1,000 for a home purchase,  small business, or college tuition. Participants will participate in a financial and money management workshop series.

Thank you to the following banks that will waive all fees for participants to open savings accounts:

  • Erie Federal Credit Union
  • First National Bank
  • Marquette Savings Bank
  • Northwest Bank
  • PNC Bank

Enrollment

  • Reside in Erie County
  • The family income is within 200% of federal poverty guidelines or
  • Temporary Assistance for Needy Families eligible, or
  • Eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit
