Many individuals lack the basic computer skills needed to work in most industries today. Moreover, the process for applying to jobs has changed drastically over the years moving to online platforms and job search sites from paper applications and walk-in interviews leaving many unsure of how to apply for jobs or even do so safely.
GECAC's digital literacy courses will help individuals gain the digital skills necessary to engage in a digital economy and improve their livelihoods.
Free classes will be offered to individuals wanting to learn or improve their basic computer skills. Classes will also teach job seekers how to write a cover letter and a resume, and how to search and apply for jobs online.
Basic Computer Course
The basic computer classes cover everything from turning on a computer and logging in, to using Microsoft Office and setting up and using email safely. This course will be taught over an 8-week period.
Online Job-Seeking Course
Online job-seeking classes will help individuals learn how to write a cover letter and resume, set up a professional email, look for and apply for jobs online, and how to use job search sites. This course will be taught over a 4-week period.
